There’s no uniforms or experience necessary before you start a class or private lesson. All our offerings are beginner friendly, so you can feel free to drop-in on a class and contact us to schedule a lesson whenever you’re ready.

When you do, we just ask that you:

  • Show up clean

  • Bring a positive attitude

  • Wear comfortable and appropriate workout attire

  • Bring any relevant gear you own (we’ll have some if you don’t), and a water bottle to stay hydrated

  • Follow a few simple rules:

Rules for Training with Sims Martial Arts

Be Collaborative, Encouraging, and Keep an Open Mind

Because Jeet Kune Do (JKD) guides our approach, we avoid pursuing a single “perfect” art, technique or form. Everyone will move differently based on their individual abilities and unique tools. In short, everyone is different.

When you train here, we hope you’ll maintain a positive attitude that appreciates everyone’s unique differences.

Make no assumptions

People of all ages, genders, races, orientations, shapes and sizes can be powerful.

Leave your belt at home

Achievements are great. An inflated ego is not. When you’re here, prepare to simply focus on training without a hierarchy.

Be a training partner—Not a micromanager

Everyone trains for their own individual reasons. Let them.
